VCSAC - Information and Application Instructions

The Student Advisory Committee to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSAC) offers an exceptional opportunity for interested UC Berkeley students to provide counsel to Vice Chancellor Harry Le Grande concerning the quality of student life and the co-curricular experience. Students serving on the VCSAC will provide direct advice and feedback to the Student Affairs division of the campus administration and help influence decisions concerning student services at Cal.

Eligibility

All interested Cal students who plan to be enrolled in and present on campus for both the fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters are eligible. Students who are passionate about the quality of student life and the student experience at UC Berkeley, engaged in the campus community, and interested in student services and development outside of the classroom setting are encouraged to apply. We are seeking a broad representation of Cal students.


Applicants must be available to attend monthly meetings on Tuesdays from 5:10-7:00 p.m. on the following dates:

(Fall 2010) August 31, September 14, October 12, November 2 and December 7

(Spring 2011) January 25, February 22, March 22, April 19 and May 3


Application Instructions

The application deadline is May 8th, 2010.

All eligible students may apply by sending an e-mail to vcsac@berkeley.edu that includes the following information:

¨ your name, in the subject line

¨ the length of your tenure at UC Berkeley, including the type and date of entry (e.g. freshmen admit - fall 2007, junior transfer student - fall 2009, or freshman spring admit - spring 2009) and class year/expected date of graduation

¨ the college you are enrolled in and the major(s) and minor(s), if applicable, you have declared

¨ your e-mail address, phone number, and current address, including your primary contact information for the summer (or when you are away from campus)

¨ a brief list of any activities and/or experiences you consider relevant (e.g. 2008-2009, Treasurer, West Valley Community College: Responsible for allocating discretionary funds; 2006-2007, Senior Class Vice President, JFK High School: Ran weekly student council meetings and organized monthly assemblies; etc.) - in lieu of sending your resume

¨ a brief statement (of no more than 250 words) expressing your interest in serving as a member of the VCSAC
